WEDGE BELTS
COMPARISONS WITH VEE BELTS
This range of drive belts are similar in appearance and construction to that of vee belts, however, the main differences are:
- Deeper cross section provides 25% more pulley grip.
- Higher tensile reinforcement cords increase belt strength by 60%, results in fewer belts necessary to transfer the same power from the drive pulley to the driven pulley.
- More expensive due to high specification construction. Do not be tempted to use vee belts in place of wedge belts for fake cost saving. Vee belts will fail prematurely in wedge belt applications.
APPLICATION
Very similar to vee belt applications. Modern machines (1980 onwards), were designed to use wedge belts which are more efficient for power transfer, while less stressful on drive shaft bearings and seals.
