APPLICATION
These belts are used mainly in industrial machinery, which operate at different speeds according to the required power output or change in operational speed. The width between the pulley sides changes either electro magnetically or by manual setting, which allows the belts to sit deeper or shallower in the pulley, which in turn will change the speed, i.e. a deeper running belt will rotate the driven pulley faster, while a shallower running belt will reduce the pulley speed.
RANGE
Various manufacturers use different sizing methods. A popular imperial method with interpretations is as follows :
Belt Size 1422V235
14 = top width in inches, 14/16”
22 = pulley angle degrees
V = variable speed belt
235 = pitch length in inches divide by 10, for metric
multiply by 25.4, e.g. 235 ÷ 10 = 23.5 x 25.4 = 597mm
a) Maximum Ranges in
LENGTH WIDTH HEIGHT
5000mm 100mm 5 to 25mm
b) Normal Cross Section Dimensions
24 degree angle for sections 13mm wide x 5mm high
17mm wide x 5mm high
30 degree angle for sections 52mm wide x 16mm high
55mm wide x 16mm high
65mm wide x 20mm high
70mm wide x 18mm high
27 degree for all other sections

NOTE:
Pitch lengths are approximately 5% longer than inside lengths, shown above.

CONSTRUCTION
These belts are strength loaded with high tensile nylon cords running parallel beneath the top cover. Beneath the nylon cords is heat, oil and static resistant fibre filled rubber in cogged raw edge construction which offers optimum side wall grip, belt flexibility and extreme strength to transfer abnormal amounts of power from the driving pulley to the driven.
Delivery time on imported Variable Speed Belts is 4 weeks, while uncommon sizes may need to be manufactured with minimum order quantities applicable, taking 2 to 3 months delay. No returns of correctly supplied belts will be accepted.
